John Hall, the owner of Bushman Harmonicas in Michigan created this harmonica to honor John Lee Curtis and his own father! Here is what John has to say: Experience the ultimate in speed and soul with our Just tuned Bushman John Lee. Featuring our signature Smoothie Cover Plates that glide friction-free through every lick. We moved the hole numbers out of the “lip zone”, added deep finger valleys in the cover plates, and concaved the ends of the plastic comb to ensure a locked-in, ergonomic grip that feels good in your hand. But the real magic is inside: our Easy-Bender Reed Gap recipe delivers incredible responsiveness right out of the box. From deep draw bends to soaring overblows, the John Lee helps take your playing to the next level with no adjustments, and no customization—just pure, magical tone.
I do love playing this, as does Jake from Jake Knows Harmonica!
I got one of these and tried it out and was so happy that I ended up playing it all weekend! It really plays pretty well. I take the time to gap it for you and it responds better. Get a hole set! This is the best very affordable harmonica I have tried for under $10. Don’t blow too hard, it’s not quite as durable as a John Lee!
Seydel’s fantastic
The Seydel Session Steel makes you smile even when fumbling—light, forgiving, and warm. Its comfortable action and clear tone let beginners and experienced players sound musical from the first note. The reeds are stainless steel and German Silver Reed Plates making it very durable. Whether noodling, learning, or jamming, it brings easy, confident joy. Forgiving, fun, and musical from the start—highly recommended. I QC this before it is shipped so it is ready to go out of the box for you!
A good, not great, but affordable starter instrument. I QC it to make sure it comes to you ready to play! Suzuki makes a fine harmonica, so it is ok to try things out with this one and move up to the Harpmaster, Bluesmaster and Manji products when you are ready!
Recommended by Ronnie Shellist and Joe Filisko! A unique, beautifully mellow sound, based on a revolutionary concept: the Special 20 was the first diatonic harmonica in the world with reed plates recessed into the comb, creating a projecting plastic mouthpiece. This makes it more comfortable to play, and the most copied harmonica design worldwide. Its distinctive sound is perfect for everything from Folk and Country to Rock and Pop. The Special 20 offers everything a professional harpist needs, but it’s also the ideal beginner’s instrument thanks to its smooth playability and comparatively affordable price. If you’re not just looking for a companion for the first few steps, but one to take you all the way, the Special 20 is your best possible bet.
Kuper Harmonicas top choice! He says it feels heavier because it is made from thick reed plates that have been electroplated. ABS comb and it is really fun because it responds fast and is so easy to bend. Very air tight, just a high quality instrument that probably should be twice the price. I will QC it before it goes out!
This is the original Shonrry. Recommended by Jake Knows Harmonica. Great harp for beginners. This is an upgrade from the East Top 008k.
This is an excellent and durable Harmonica. I use these in my daily and Gig play because they are affordable and very good. It is a good idea to try different keys with these before moving up to a John Lee or another brand. I will QC each harmonica before I send them out so you know that you can easily draw and bend each hole.
I really like the shape of the holes and the playability of this harmonica. I got my first Maxwell St on Black Friday and played it nonstop for a week. I wish I would have played this first instead of a cheap harmonica. I often think I will ditch all my other harps and just play a set of Maxwells. But what is the fun in that! Bluesey as you want it to be! Have Fun!
Lee Oskar’s have such a pure and simple design. So many people love them - it was never my favorite, then I did a little gapping, and now I absolutely love them!!! I QC these so you will be able to draw a 2 and 3 hole out of the box. LO has such great tone and these are a gateway to the Natural Minor and Melody Maker’s that LO produces!
This is a fantastic entry-level harmonica from Bushman. It is very responsive and has a wonderful tone. I won one of these on Jake Knows Harmonica Facebook page, and really liked it immediately. The round holes are great for finding individual notes. If you would like a different key than I have listed, let me know and I will get it for you. Like all of our Harmonicas, I will QC these to make sure they are ready to go out of the box. Recommended by: Jake Robinson of Jake Knows Harmonica

Six brands authorized us for selling from our e-commerce store. Hohner declined stating that the market is saturated. We hope they change their mind at some point. In the meantime, we will hustle to have Special 20 and Marine Band models available due to their popularity. We have other instruments that are just as high quality from other manufacturers.
